Kikohroku Series Sengoku Samurai Incense – Vol.2

Kikohroku Series is an original incense collection that expresses historical figures through scent, much like an unrolling scroll that carries stories far into the distance.

Each fragrance includes 20 incense sticks, offering a balanced format for both exploration and regular use.

Each fragrance is inspired by the lives, personalities, and legacies of individuals who shaped Japanese history. Their stories are carried in incense smoke, connecting profound narratives of the past to the present day.

Throughout Japan’s history, many figures have influenced the course of their times. Warlords of the Sengoku period, as well as the people who supported them, continue to captivate hearts even today.

Kikohroku translates these historical figures into fragrance. Each scent is carefully blended to reflect the person’s character and way of life, while the packaging features the family crest and signature colors associated with them, allowing history to be experienced through both scent and design.

This page presents the second release in the series, introducing five additional figures whose stories further expand the narrative world of Kikohroku.

Carry these enduring stories into the present, and take a quiet moment to step into a page of history through fragrance.

A complete set containing all fragrances in the series is also available. The incense holder and plate shown in photos are not included.

Oda Nobunaga

An opulent and refined fragrance inspired by Oda Nobunaga, the revolutionary warlord who challenged the conventions of the Sengoku period. Known for his bold reforms, including the widespread use of firearms and the introduction of free-market policies, Nobunaga transformed the era before his life was cut short in 1582 at the Honno-ji Incident.

This fragrance is composed with Vietnamese Siam agarwood blended in a classical style, creating a lustrous and sophisticated aromatic presence that reflects his commanding vision and transformative influence.

Tokugawa Ieyasu

A calm and composed fragrance inspired by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Edo Shogunate and the first shogun who brought an end to the Sengoku period. Having endured a long childhood as a political hostage, he cultivated patience and resilience, later securing victory at the Battle of Sekigahara and establishing a peaceful era that lasted over 260 years.

This scent blends Vietnamese Siam agarwood with natural aromatic materials, resulting in a balanced, steady, and dignified fragrance that reflects his enduring strength and composure.

Oichi no Kata

A gentle and graceful fragrance inspired by Oichi no Kata, a noblewoman swept by the tides of the Sengoku period. The younger sister of Oda Nobunaga, she entered a political marriage with Azai Nagamasa and later remarried Shibata Katsuie, before meeting a tragic fate during the Battle of Shizugatake.

This fragrance expresses the softness of blooming cherry blossoms, offering a delicate and comforting floral aroma that evokes both elegance and quiet fragility.

Shibata Katsuie

A bold and powerful fragrance inspired by Shibata Katsuie, one of Oda Nobunaga’s most trusted generals, known for his unwavering loyalty and strength on the battlefield. Nicknamed “Kakare Shibata” for his fearless charges, he was a warrior who stood firmly at the forefront of combat.

This fragrance combines Indonesian Tani-type agarwood with spicy traditional herbal ingredients, resulting in a strong and dynamic aroma that reflects his resolute spirit and commanding presence.

Akechi Mitsuhide

An elegant and composed fragrance inspired by Akechi Mitsuhide, a retainer known for both intellect and mystery. Rising to prominence under Oda Nobunaga, he famously led the Honno-ji Incident, bringing Nobunaga’s life to an end and briefly seizing power for just over ten days.

The scent is inspired by Japanese cypress, blended with classical aromatic materials to create a refined and tranquil fragrance, reflecting both his cultivated character and enigmatic legacy.
