Takaoka Metalwork Ryujin Dragon God Shape Incense Burner

Ryujin, the dragon god of the sea, is one of the most powerful figures in Japanese mythology, associated with water, weather, and protection. This incense burner takes the form of a coiled dragon, its scaled body and fierce expression rendered in fine relief. The piece is cast in alloy and finished in pure gold plating, giving the dragon's form a brilliant, radiant surface.

The piece is made using Takaoka copperware (Takaoka Doki) techniques, a metal casting tradition practiced in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, for more than 400 years. Artisans there pour molten metal into hand-formed molds and hand-finish each casting, giving Takaoka metalwork its characteristic weight, texture, and durability.

How to Use

Place a layer of ash in the burner, then set an incense cone, stick, or piece of charcoal on top to burn.
