Beads made from genuine dragon-eye bodhi seed are considered rare, owing to the scarcity of qualifying material. This piece pairs large dragon-eye bodhi seeds with soft red agate for a distinctive combination. Dragon-eye and phoenix-eye bodhi seeds come from the same tree, native to India; only about 20 to 30 percent of phoenix-eye bodhi fruit naturally develops the third 'eye' that qualifies it as dragon-eye. These beads are left in their raw, uncarved form rather than shaped into perfect spheres, letting the natural texture of the fruit come through. Over time, oils within the fruit rise to the surface, and with continued use the beads gradually develop a beautiful amber sheen. The agate used for the main bead is said to help the wearer build strong, positive relationships. While raw bodhi fruit can sometimes be prone to insects, this piece has been treated against them, so it can be worn with confidence.
