Jet is a material formed from coal, created when driftwood that sank to the ocean floor gradually fossilizes over a long period under pressure. In its raw state, jet has a dull black appearance, but once polished it takes on a beautiful, glass-like luster. These deep black prayer beads pair elegantly with mourning attire, and as jet is lighter than stone, it remains comfortable to wear for extended periods. Jet was once widely available for necklaces and other jewelry, but has become an increasingly difficult material to source due to large-scale buying from China. This is a limited-edition item.
