The chrysanthemum is a flower that is considered a symbol of Japan along with the cherry blossom.

The flower's meaning is "Nobility"

The motif is the chrysanthemum flower, and the overlapping petals are carefully carved to express it.

In China, chrysanthemums were also believed to have medicinal properties for immortality and longevity.
