Takaoka Metalwork Incense Burner

This Takaoka copperware incense burner takes the form of a classic "Yamato-style" lion lid (Yamato-gata shishi-buta), in which a stylised shishi (lion-dog) crouches atop the lid in a commanding pose.

Cast and finished by hand in Takaoka, Toyama - Japan's foremost centre for copperware for more than 400 years - the burner is available in two sizes, both finished in a rich "Toku" bronze-tone patina that brings out the depth of the metal.

Design Variations

Small (Toku-colored): 15.3 cm diameter x 17 cm height.
Large (Features): 16.5 cm diameter x 19 cm height.

How to Use

Fill the burner with incense ash, then place lit incense sticks, cones, or charcoal on top of the ash to enjoy the fragrance.
