Takaoka Copperware Long Foot Cloud Dragon Lid Incense Burner

This incense burner stands on tall, elongated feet (ryusoku, "dragon feet") and is topped with a lid worked in a swirling cloud-and-dragon (unryu) motif, a dynamic design that gives the piece a strong sculptural presence. The entire surface is finished in pure gold leaf, a luxurious technique that highlights every detail of the relief casting.

The piece was crafted by artisan Masaharu as part of the Takaoka copperware tradition, a metal-casting craft centred on Takaoka, Toyama, with a history of more than 400 years.

How to Use

Fill the burner with incense ash, then place lit incense sticks, cones, or charcoal on top of the ash to enjoy the fragrance.
