An Everyday Formal Set for the Jodo Shinshu Sect

We created this piece in response to requests for an affordable, formal sect-style prayer bead set for the Jodo Shinshu sect. Ironwood (tagayasan) is a tree grown widely across Asia, especially in Thailand and India. Its surface texture is slightly coarse, but polishing brings out a beautiful luster. Along with rosewood and ebony, it is considered one of the classic karaki hardwoods. Its beautiful grain is well loved and widely used in furniture and Buddhist altars. Because the wood is extremely durable, it is recommended for those who want to wear their prayer beads every day. This set is finished with Indian jade beads.
