Gohitsu, thanks to adding a natural essential oil from plants into conventional incense raw materials, is a product that not only can be use for Buddhist Practices but also is perfect for enjoying at home when relaxing or entertaining. As for the reason of naming this incense Goshitsu - which means ‘Five Brushstrokes’, it is closely connected with Kobo Daishi, who was better know as Kukai, and who has played an active role in Chang’an ? an ancient capital of China. According to references, Kukai was a man of many talents. And thanks to his talent in writing in five handwriting styles such as sosho-tai (cursive style writing), in China he was called Gohitsu Osho (the priest who writes with five brushes), and was worshipped as the founder of Jubokudo (calligraphy) in Japan. There are even well-known sayings involving Kukai. I.e.: ”Kobo mo fude no ayamari”:“Even Kukai can make a mistake at writing”, which usually is translated as ‘anyone can make a mistake`.He truly had a wonderful style of writing. Seikado Gohitsu, named after Kukai’s various talents in writing, is Incense which has been created with a new concept ? ‘fixation on fragrance, gracefully elegant’. Jinko Gohitsu, is a new type of Incense that express tastes of five flavors, mostly by the high-quality Agarwood sweetness mixed with bitterness and pungency. Ingredients: Rozan Sandalwood, seven kinds of classical incense raw materials, three types of Agarwood and mix of natural essential oils.
