Suruga Bamboo Sensuji-Zaiku Fragrance Ornament with Kinran Sachets

This ornament pairs traditional Suruga Bamboo Sensuji-Zaiku craftsmanship with Kohgen’s original Kinran scented sachets, offering a refined decorative piece with a gentle fragrance. Its meticulously handcrafted bamboo structure highlights the beauty of natural materials and Japanese artistry.

This fragrance ornament combines the beauty of the traditional craft Suruga Bamboo Sensuji-Zaiku with Kohgen’s original Kinran scented sachets.

The bamboo cylinder is crafted by Miyabi Andon Workshop, using the refined Sensuji-Zaiku technique characterized by extremely fine round bamboo strips. The upper, middle, and lower rings are not sliced from bamboo but individually formed through the traditional ring-making method, making them far less prone to cracking.

Looking closely at the rings, you can see the horizontal grain of the bamboo, showing that each ring is carefully created and joined by hand. The bamboo is left in its natural ivory tone after oil removal, allowing you to enjoy its graceful color change over time. Together with its elegant appearance, this ornament delivers a gentle fragrance to enrich your living space. It is suitable both for personal use and as a refined gift.

Kohgen Fragrance Ornament – Straight Lattice Cylinder (Sensuji-Zaiku)

The straight lattice cylinder is an original design made exclusively for Kohgen. Each round bamboo strip of about 1 mm in diameter is hand-carved one by one. The holes for inserting the strips are drilled individually to match the exact thickness of each strip, resulting in a strong, durable structure.

Despite its delicate and uniform appearance, this bamboo work is remarkably sturdy and made to be enjoyed for many years.

Kohgen Fragrance Ornament – Yarai Lattice Cylinder (Sensuji-Zaiku)

This Yarai lattice cylinder is also crafted exclusively for Kohgen. All round bamboo strips of about 1 mm are hand-carved, and each insertion hole is made one at a time to ensure a secure assembly.

The diagonal “Yarai” lattice pattern requires particularly precise control of drilling angles, making it considerably more difficult to produce than a straight lattice. The beautifully balanced latticework showcases the exceptional skill of the artisan.

How to Display

These replacement Kinran sachets are designed for the Suruga Sensuji-Zaiku fragrance ornament. Use them when the scent begins to fade. The cords are made slightly longer for convenient hanging.
