A men's strand made with Kiso hinoki, cypress grown in the Kiso Valley of Nagano Prefecture, where the region's cold climate slows growth to 70–80 years, well beyond the 30–40 years typical of hinoki elsewhere, producing an especially fine, beautiful grain. Long valued for its durability, antibacterial qualities, and gentle fragrance, hinoki has been used in important structures since ancient times, including the core wood of Horyuji Temple's five-story pagoda; this strand is said to be among the first to use natural Kiso hinoki so prominently in prayer beads. Blue tiger's eye is used as an accent, adding a chic, understated tone popular among men.
