Starry Moon bodhi seed comes from a tree native to Hainan Island, China. Its name comes from the many small dots scattered across each seed, likened to stars, together with a single larger mark left where the seed was joined to its stem, likened to the moon. Starry Moon bodhi seed is also said to represent the Buddhist cosmos: the seeds are compared to stars and the moon in a night sky, long believed since ancient times to represent the universe and, by extension, the realm of the Buddha. This strand pairs the seed with blue moss agate, prized for the beautiful green moss-like inclusions running through it.
