Jet is a coal-based material formed when driftwood sinking to the ocean floor fossilizes over a very long span of time under pressure. In its raw state it is a dull, matte black, but polishing brings out a glass-like shine. Being deep black throughout, it pairs naturally with mourning attire, and being lighter than stone, it stays comfortable for extended wear. Jet was once widely available in items such as necklaces, but heavy buying from Chinese markets has made it considerably harder to source today. This strand incorporates beautifully cut black onyx flat beads that add extra presence, a good choice for anyone drawn to a sharp, striking look. Limited edition, one-of-a-kind piece.
