Prayer Beads from the Sacred Tree of the Buddha's Enlightenment

The bodhi tree is best known as the tree beneath which the Buddha sat and attained enlightenment. This is distinct from star-moon bodhi tree or vajra bodhi tree; this Indian bodhi tree is the true bodhi tree of Buddhist tradition, the very tree under which the Buddha reached enlightenment. Botanically, it belongs to the fig genus of the mulberry family; its fruit is not edible and is not suited for bead-making in the usual sense, but it is revered as a sacred tree. This piece is crafted from Indian bodhi tree wood, left in its natural, unpolished texture to preserve its organic character. We created this piece in the belief that there is meaning in carrying the sacred tree beneath which the Buddha attained enlightenment.
