Tonbo-dama Glass Bead & Crystal Bracelet, Premium Cut
Beautiful Tonbo-dama Glass Beads Paired with Cut Crystal
We've paired our ever-popular crystal with tonbo-dama for a refreshingly cool bracelet. Tonbo-dama refers to glass beads with a hole through the center; the name (literally 'dragonfly beads') comes from the way the patterned glass resembles a dragonfly's compound eyes. In the Edo period, glass beads with a white floral pattern on a blue background were specifically called 'tonbo-dama,' while other patterned beads had their own names, but today all such beads are called tonbo-dama regardless of pattern. Today there is a wide range of tonbo-dama patterns and colors, offering hues not found in natural stone. This piece combines tonbo-dama with faceted cut crystal beads for a cool, eye-catching look.
