Yakusugi are ancient cedars from Yakushima, a UNESCO World Heritage site, generally defined as cedar trees over 1,000 years old (younger trees are called "kosugi"). As the forest is protected, only wood from naturally fallen trees may be used, and its unusually fine grain deepens in color and character with use. This one-of-a-kind piece pairs the popular Yakusugi with labradorite, a stone prized for its shifting play of color.
