These prayer beads are crafted from Ryukyu cypress, hand-finished by furniture artisans in Okinawa. Ryukyu cypress is an exceptionally rare material for prayer beads, carrying a stronger, longer-lasting fragrance than standard cypress, and prized for its hard, high-quality wood – typically reserved for Buddhist altars and altar fittings, making its use in prayer beads uncommon. Because Ryukyu cypress naturally contains a high oil content, the surface may feel slightly different at first; with roughly a month of regular use, however, it develops a glossy sheen and a richly tasteful color, adapting to the wearer more quickly than prayer beads made from other woods or natural fruits. This piece is finished with red tiger's eye stone.
