Aged amber (rōkohaku) is amber that has continued crystallizing over an even longer span of time than ordinary amber. Genuinely high-quality aged amber rarely reaches the market -- one contributing factor being strong demand from Chinese collectors, who have bought up much of the available supply. This piece was sourced through careful selection among many routes to secure only the finest quality. Beginning close to yellow, its color has gradually warmed toward orange as geothermal heat acted on it over long ages, producing the rich, mature tone seen here. Remarkably lightweight and comfortable for extended wear. Made up in the Nichiren sect style, shaku length. One-of-a-kind piece.
