Among the many varieties of bodhi seed used in prayer beads, Tenjiku bodhi seed is regarded as the "king" of them all, an extremely rare material found only at high elevations in small quantities and only occasionally available. This one-of-a-kind strand cuts the main beads into the distinctive rounded "Oval Bead" shape, sized to shaku-yon in the formal style traditionally worn with priestly vestments for the Rinzai sect. It is paired with lapis lazuli for the parent and top beads; alongside crystal, lapis lazuli is considered one of the oldest and most powerful stones used in prayer beads.
