Rare Blue Amber: A Mysterious Color-Changing Treasure

This is an extremely rare form of amber known as Blue Amber. Normally golden-brown in color, it reacts to ultraviolet light and shifts to a vivid blue depending on the angle of view — the color change is especially visible against a dark background. Blue Amber is only found in the Dominican Republic, and due to mine closures, supply has become extremely limited. This natural Dominican amber is fossilized resin from the Hymenaea hardwood tree, roughly 2,500-3,000 years old, which turns a brilliant cobalt blue under sunlight's UV rays despite appearing golden-brown under ordinary indoor lighting.
