A one-of-a-kind piece evoking the romance of ancient civilizations: Maya Bodhi seed, a South American bodhi variety named after the Maya civilization (and, curiously, sharing its name with the Buddha's mother, Maya). Made with the wish that wearing it will keep misfortune at bay and invite happiness, each bead is carved with a Dharma wheel, said to overcome human delusion and evil, making this a meaningful protective charm as well as an ornament. The openwork carving keeps the beads hard and sturdy, yet smooth to the touch and comfortably light. The secondary beads use tiger jasper, a rare stone from Africa containing titanium that gives it a subtle sparkle, in a deep, calm brown that complements the tone of the Maya Bodhi seed beautifully.
