Koyamaki Bead Bracelet, 6mm, Matching Set

$20.00 USD

A Simple Bracelet of Koyamaki, the Sacred Tree of Mount Koya

Koyamaki (Japanese umbrella pine) is a conifer found in abundance on Mount Koya, the head temple of the Shingon sect, where it is regarded as a sacred tree. Mount Koya is also where Kobo Daishi Kukai, founder of the Shingon sect, once practiced. Koyamaki wood is highly resistant to moisture and easy to work with, so it has long been used in construction; wooden coffins made of koyamaki have even been found from the Kofun period. The wood also has strong deodorizing and antibacterial properties, so wearing this bracelet offers a natural deodorizing effect. Its grain and texture resemble Yakusugi cedar, but with a gentler, softer coloring. This is an especially light and easy-to-wear prayer bead bracelet.
