This piece was carefully polished by a Kyoto prayer bead craftsman from a special Dominican green amber, of a quality fine enough to be displayed in a jewelry shop — remarkably clear and fresh in appearance. Only one piece was able to be prepared this time.

Green amber is mainly sourced along the Caribbean coast; the piece here is Dominican in origin. As Dominican amber output has declined sharply in recent years, natural amber has become harder to source, and green amber forms only sporadically, making it especially rare. Highly clear green amber is rarely used in prayer beads and is more typically found in rings and necklaces at jewelry shops.
