Frankincense Incense Material – Chips, Powder & Resin

Nyukoh (frankincense) is a traditional incense material derived from natural resin and long valued for its clear and refined aromatic character.

Known in Japanese as Nyukoh and in English as frankincense, this aromatic resin is collected from evergreen trees of the Boswellia genus, which belongs to the Burseraceae family. The resin forms as natural tears that harden after being secreted from the tree and are then carefully gathered. Frankincense has historically been associated with regions across Africa and the Middle East.

For centuries, frankincense has been used in Western and Middle Eastern cultures, particularly in religious and ceremonial contexts. It was traditionally burned in churches and temples, where its distinctive aroma contributed to the atmosphere of formal gatherings and rituals.

As an incense material, nyukoh is appreciated for its cool, clean, and slightly resinous scent. Its transparent aromatic profile makes it suitable both as a main component and as a supporting element that adds clarity and lift to blended incense compositions.

This frankincense is sourced from Sudan.

This product is offered exclusively as a material for incense making. Please note that it is not intended for food use and should be used only for incense crafting.

Chips (Cut Form)

The resin is prepared in smaller pieces, making it suitable for sachet preparation or for use in traditional incense practices.

Powder

Finely processed nyukoh that blends evenly with other incense materials. This form is commonly used in kneaded incense or stick incense making.

Resin (Whole Form)

Natural frankincense resin pieces in their original form. This type is often burned directly on charcoal, allowing the resin to release its aroma gradually.
