Borneol Incense Material – Chips & Powder

Ryuno (borneol) is a traditional incense material known for its clear, refined aromatic character and its distinctive crystalline form.

Known as ryuno in Japanese and borneol in English, this material is obtained from the resin of a large evergreen tree belonging to the Dipterocarpaceae family, often referred to as the borneol tree. The resin slowly crystallizes into translucent, colorless granules that are valued as an aromatic material, and it is mainly associated with regions such as Indonesia and Malaysia.

Borneol has an aroma often compared to camphor, though it is generally regarded as softer and more rounded in tone. Because of this balanced and lucid aromatic quality, ryuno has traditionally been used as an accent ingredient in incense formulations rather than as a dominant base material.

Natural ryuno has historically been considered a rare aromatic substance. In modern times, materials with similar molecular structures are sometimes used as substitutes, reflecting changes in availability and approaches to resource conservation. This background forms part of ryuno’s place within the broader history of aromatic materials.

This product is offered exclusively as a material for incense making. Please note that it is not intended for food use and should be used only for incense crafting.

Chips (Cut Form)

Crystalline ryuno prepared in small, easy-to-handle pieces. This form is suitable for sachet preparation or for use in traditional incense practices.

Powder

Finely processed ryuno that blends smoothly with other incense materials. This form is commonly used in kneaded incense or stick incense making, where even dispersion is important.
