Benzoin Incense Material – Chips & Powder

Ansokukoh (benzoin) is a traditional incense material prepared from the resin of evergreen trees belonging to the storax family.

Known in Japanese as Ansokukoh and in English as benzoin, this aromatic resin is mainly collected from trees native to regions such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and parts of the Middle East. The resin is obtained by making small incisions in the bark, allowing it to seep out and harden before being carefully gathered.

Ansokukoh is recognized for its warm, gently sweet, and balsamic aromatic character. Its soft and rounded scent has made it a familiar component in various incense traditions, where it contributes a sense of cohesion and depth.

In incense making, Ansokukoh is commonly used as a stabilizing element. It helps unify different aromatic notes within a blend and supports a more even and lasting fragrance when combined with other incense materials. For this reason, it is typically used as a supporting ingredient rather than a dominant note.

While benzoin appears in a wide range of historical aromatic contexts, this product is offered exclusively as a material for incense making. Please note that it is not intended for food use and should be used only for incense crafting.

Chips (Cut Form)

The hardened resin is prepared in small pieces suitable for use in sachets or traditional incense practices. This form allows for the gradual release of its characteristic aroma.

Powder

Finely processed Ansokukoh that blends smoothly with other incense materials. This form is commonly used in kneaded incense or stick incense making, where uniform integration is important.
