Incense Burner Brown Black with Dragon Crest Ring

This incense burner is decorated with a dragon crest motif and fitted with a ring handle on each side, a classical detail borrowed from Chinese and Japanese bronze vessel design. Cast in zinc alloy, the piece is finished in a deep brown-black tone that highlights the raised dragon relief and gives the surface an aged, antique character.

The piece is made using Takaoka copperware (Takaoka Doki) techniques, a metal casting tradition practiced in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, for more than 400 years. Artisans there pour molten metal into hand-formed molds and hand-finish each casting, giving Takaoka metalwork its characteristic weight, texture, and durability.

How to Use

Place a layer of ash in the burner, then set an incense cone, stick, or piece of charcoal on top to burn.
