Takaoka Metalwork Evening Moon Incense Burner

Named for the soft, glowing moon that rises in the evening sky, this incense burner has a gently rounded, drum-like form cast in zinc alloy. Its quiet, understated shape evokes the calm atmosphere of a moonlit evening, making it well suited to a relaxed space for enjoying incense.

The piece is made using Takaoka copperware (Takaoka Doki) techniques, a metal casting tradition practiced in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, for more than 400 years. Artisans there pour molten metal into hand-formed molds and hand-finish each casting, giving Takaoka metalwork its characteristic weight, texture, and durability.

How to Use

Place a layer of ash in the burner, then set an incense cone, stick, or piece of charcoal on top to burn. The included stand keeps the burner elevated and protects the surface beneath it.
