Koharudanji Kakekoh Incense Sachet
Koharudanji Kakekoh Incense Sachet
Koharudanji Kakekoh Incense Sachet is a hanging incense pouch produced by rakugo performer Katsura Koharudanji III, who is known for his deep commitment to Kamigata rakugo.
This incense sachet is created to convey classical Japanese fragrance sensibilities into contemporary life. It is designed in the style of kakekoh, a traditional type of incense sachet meant to be hung from a wall or from the waist when worn with clothing such as kimono. It can also be enjoyed indoors as a decorative hanging fragrance piece.
The sachet is made using carefully selected, high-quality fabric. In the men’s version, a bead made of fine sandalwood is attached at the upper fastening of the sachet, serving as an accent where the opening is tied closed. The sandalwood bead is not placed inside the sachet, but is fixed externally as part of the overall design and fragrance expression.
Koharudanji Kakekoh can be worn stylishly suspended from the obi of a kimono, and is equally suited to modern attire such as jeans. It is also designed to be hung in living spaces, allowing fragrance to be appreciated gently as part of daily surroundings.
This product is recommended for those seeking a refined Japanese accessory that allows fragrance to be worn or displayed as part of one’s personal style. It offers a subtle and composed aromatic presence, expressing fragrance as an extension of cultural aesthetics rather than as a strong scent.
The series is available in three variations: a men’s type, a women’s type, and an Oikaze-yoi type. The Oikaze-yoi version is not a refill; it is a complete incense sachet that can be enjoyed on its own as a hanging fragrance item.
Please note that colors and patterns cannot be selected in advance and may vary. Thank you for your understanding.
Message from Katsura Koharudanji III
“I devoted great care to the creation of the fragrance and to supervising the design, and I am satisfied with the result. I hope that both rakugo and fragrance can be enjoyed casually as expressions of meaningful cultural traditions.”
