Kyukyodo Pressed Incense (Inkoh) – Set of Six
About Inkoh
Inkoh refers to traditional pressed incense, carefully formed into thin shapes for gentle warming. Designed to be enjoyed by gradually releasing fragrance through heat, inkoh has long been appreciated for its refined form and controlled aromatic expression.
The formal method of enjoying inkoh is to use silver mica sheets, and it is traditionally used during the furo season from May through October, particularly in tea gatherings. Due to its thin and delicate form, careful attention should be paid to heat control when warming inkoh.
When using an incense burner, place one or two pieces slightly away from the heat source so that the fragrance rises slowly and softly. Allowing the incense to warm gradually helps reveal a gentle, well-balanced aroma.
Inkoh is fully dried by nature and should be stored in a dry place away from humidity to preserve its quality.
