Osagawa Nisaburo Shoten’s Rakuraku Zukoh Series is designed for those who wish to use zukoh easily and comfortably as part of daily Zen.

Zukoh is a traditional incense powder used in Buddhism, often described as a “purifying incense.” It is traditionally blended with sandalwood as its core ingredient and combined with several finely powdered botanical materials. Similar aromatic powders were historically applied to the body in ancient India and later spread to Japan together with Buddhist practice. Over time, zukoh became associated with preparing oneself respectfully before worship and ritual.

The Rakuraku Zukoh Series adapts this long-established tradition into a compact and practical form suited for modern use. The container is designed for ease of application—simply open the lid and gently tap the container to dispense the powder. Its small size makes it convenient to carry, allowing zukoh to be used naturally without the handling difficulties often associated with loose incense powder.
