Starry bodhi seed, the fruit of the bodhi tree found on Hainan Island, China, takes its name from the countless small dark spots on its surface said to resemble stars, with the single larger stem mark representing the moon. Together they are traditionally read as a symbol of the universe. Finished here with jade, prized in Japan since the Jomon period, and a wisteria-colored tassel.
