Inca rose is also known by its mineral name, rhodochrosite, derived from the Greek for 'red color,' and remains a beloved stone to this day. With its pretty pink-and-red coloring, Inca rose is especially popular among women and is said to be particularly supportive of romantic relationships; true to its name, its rose-like pink tone gives a calm impression, with charming pink-and-white banding suited to wearers of any age. This piece follows the formal Rinzai-sect style, based on a standard count of 108 beads; even among temple parishioners, few own a full formal set, and practitioners do not hold them during zazen meditation. The design closely resembles Soto-sect prayer beads but without the metal ring.
