Starry Moon Bodhi Seed (Hoshizuki Bodaiju) comes from a Bodhi tree grown on Hainan Island, China. Its name comes from the countless small dark speckles across each seed, likened to stars in the night sky, and the single larger mark left by the stem, likened to the moon. Since ancient times, the seed has been thought to represent the cosmos, and the cosmos was believed to be the world of the Buddha. Many have sensed something mystical in these beads.
