Rare Dominican Blue Amber

This bracelet features exceptionally rare Blue Amber, a variety of amber found only in the Dominican Republic. Blue Amber gets its name from the striking cobalt-blue glow it emits when exposed to ultraviolet light — under normal indoor lighting the beads appear a warm golden-brown, but in sunlight or against a dark background, a vivid blue color appears that shifts subtly with the angle of light.

Dominican amber is fossilized resin from the Hymenaea tree, formed over roughly 2,500 to 3,000 years. Due to the closure of many of the mines that produce it, genuine Blue Amber has become extremely limited in supply and is considered a highly valuable, one-of-a-kind material. This particular piece is offered at a more accessible price because its blue fluorescence is present in a smaller amount than in top-grade specimens, though its rarity and mystique remain undiminished.
