The aromatic materials used in sachets are in “cut” form, and a variety of scents can be created depending on the blending ratio of these materials.
Start by learning the scent of each material on its own.
Once you're familiar with them, you’ll be able to adjust the blend to match your preferences.

How to Make a Scented Sachet
1. Add the ingredients

Prepare a bowl or container to mix the aromatic materials.
Any bowl that is easy to mix in, such as a kitchen bowl, will work.
Start by adding sandalwood.
2. Check the fragrance

Smell the fragrance of sandalwood on its own.
Enjoy and memorize the sweet scent.
3. Smell each ingredient and choose the next

After checking the sandalwood scent, choose the next aromatic material.
Before placing it in the bowl, be sure to smell it individually to memorize the scent.
There is no fixed order for adding ingredients, but borneol (ryūnō) is added last because it lifts the overall scent.
4. Mix thoroughly

Once you've confirmed the scent, place the ingredient in the bowl and mix until the color is even.
If you sprinkle the materials from above while mixing, they will blend more uniformly.
5. Check the fragrance

After mixing thoroughly, check the scent. Observe any changes in the fragrance. For all ingredients except borneol, be sure to follow steps 3–5, smelling each material before adding it to the mix.
6. Add borneol

Finally, add the borneol.
After checking its refreshing scent, place it in the bowl and mix.
Adding borneol helps to elevate the overall fragrance of the blend.
7. Fill the fabric pouch with the blend

Once everything is mixed, place the final blend into a fabric sachet.
If you have cotton, you can use it to seal the top inside the pouch.
Use a spoon to gently press the blend into the corners of the pouch.
8. Fold the opening of the pouch

Fold the opening of the pouch into a “W” shape as shown in the photo.
9. Tie it with a string

Keeping the “W” shape, tie the pouch with a string about 1–1.5 cm below the opening.
10. Shape the pouch and complete

Finally, adjust the overall shape of the pouch to make it plump like a small drawstring bag. Now your scented sachet with a gentle sandalwood-based fragrance is complete.
